from THE BUND to the PEACE HOTEL, and NANJING ROAD

The plan was a great one.  Go to the Bund in the afternoon.  There's nothing much to do there anyway except walk and stare.  The place is full of people--tourists, of course--but a lot of locals, too.  We stroll the Bund, taking our time.  Along the way, a mother is holding her little boy a foot or two off the ground so he can pee into a trash container that has a appropriate opening on the side of the container.  I was about to take a picture, but I was, as I am, alas, in most things, too late.

Here's the Bund during the day

The view looking south.

The view looking east.

AND AT NIGHT!

See the Oriental Pearl and Radio TV Tower at night.

PEACE HOTEL;  Across the street from the Bund on Nanjing Road is this beautiful old hotel, where an over 70s Jazz Band plays every night.  We could hear them playing as we walked through the lobby and these rooms.  If you want to know what it's like to stay here, rumor has it that TM could tell us.

If you've been following along on this journey, you probably will recognize the building highlighted on the left, in the back.   We're on Nanjing Road walking West.   The last time you saw the building we were looking North standing on the road that holds both the Shanghai Museum and the Grand Theater.

As you can see the road of full of people out for an evening stroll through one of the best shopping areas in all of Shanghai.
