MILLION DOLLAR DINNER AT A MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE

The last Friday in April, we had dinner at Yang Xiaoling's house.   You've already met James Wang, Xiaoling's husband, who is very proud of their new home.  They had been moving in the previous  few weeks, so this was their first opportunity to have guests in.   A brief overview of the house:  It has seven levels, including a theater in the basement, and a tatami room on the topmost floor.   It also has several balconies.  We enter on the kitchen/dining level, and step down into a beautiful living area.  Upstairs are a couple floors of bedrooms and offices.   To the side is the full sized garage.

HERE AND BELOW ARE SOME VIEW OF THE LIVING ROOM.

Here we are on the top floor in the Tatami Room. Note that by pushing a button  the center of the floor rises, and we have a little table.

Looking down on the living room.
Here we are at dinner.  Xiaohong and James are to my right, out of the picture. The dining room chairs must be made of ironwood.  I went to slide the chair forward, to get closer to the table, and thought they were bolted to the floor.  It took two tries, but I finally moved close enough to stuff my face.  By the way, James is proud of the bathroom, which sits off of the kitchen.  He said, "Take a look, it's got a special addition."  I did, fully expecting a bidet.  I was wrong.   It was a urinal.
Did I say million dollar dinner? It was the best dinner I've had in Shanghai.  Xiaoling is an excellent cook; her flavors are wonderful. ( Okay, it could have been a better picture. )  Sitting next to me is their teenage son Adam, who must be a aix- footer.
After dinner we settled down in the little theater  There's a big screen and a projector in the ceiling. A full sound system, with all the equipment any techie would want are stored in the near wall.   The all-leather sofa and the leather chairs in the back are impressive and comfortable.
